This past year, and the next year is looking a little bit different than we’re used too. 2020 we were supposed to find adventure in South America but unfortunately, we had to cancel that.
Lately, I’ve been getting back into the groove my planning some local getaways to recoup and relax while we are unable to travel abroad. Here is my travel bucket list for 2021.
Go Camping

Camping is the perfect getaway for this year. Sit back and unwind around the fire, unplug and just rejoice in your company. This is perfect for busy families and a great way for making new memories. Even if traveling is off the table for 2021, who says you can’t have a vacation?
Not into camping? Then try glamping! This is 100% on my bucket list for the near future and I might give this a try sometime this year. Why not be pampered while spending time in nature. It sounds like a win-win to me.
Go on a Staycation
Book a local hotel and be a tourist in your own city. Research must do things, try that restaurant you’ve been thinking about, go to the local museums. You might discover a few new things about your own city.
If you want to save money, you don’t even have to stay in a hotel. Have yourself a spa night and pretend you’re in a world class luxurious hotel.
Rent a Cabin

There is nothing better than being in a remote location with no one around for miles (ok, I made that sound a little creepy). But seriously, being able to unplug and unwind can do wonders for the soul. It forces you to slow down and you could even learn a thing or two about yourself.
Trust me, try it and you’ll free refreshed by the end.
Go on a Road Trip
I can’t get enough of road trips! I feel like you get so much more out of your experience when driving to your destination. Sure they take longer but throw in a good playlist and belt out your favorite songs while eating that entire bag of Doritos (oops!).
Road trips are great for the entire family and make it easier to travel at your own pace. Pack up the kids and fur babies and plan a road trip to see more of your own Province or State.
Spend Time by the Ocean

One of our favorite places to visit is the remote village of Tofino. Located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island, it offers some of the best surfing in North America but be warned, the water is VERY cold.
In Vancouver the ocean is never far and spending time relaxing by the water is good for the soul. Relax and recharge for a few days.
Can’t get away for a few days? A few hours will still do your mind and body good. Visit a local lake, or river. Pack a lunch and spend a few hours relaxing with a good book or podcast.
We are all still waiting to see what 2021 brings and whether travel is something that will be possible within the next year.
I will keep you posted if my plans change and we are able to book a short trip later in the year. We are keeping it open just in case we’re able to fly again soon.
Leave a comment and let me know what’s on your travel bucket list for 2021.
